Have you ever had one of those moments where a character on TV feels so real, it’s like they’re holding up a mirror? That’s exactly how I felt watching Liz on Shrinking. She’s funny, messy, a little over-the-top—and yet, so relatable.
Liz is navigating this weird space in life where everything she’s known is changing. She’s spent years taking care of everyone else, and now she’s wondering what’s next for her. It’s not just about being an empty nester—it’s about what happens when the life you’ve built shifts, and you realize you’ve been so busy doing that you’ve forgotten what it feels like to just be.
I think so many of us can relate to that, no matter where we are in life. There’s something about midlife that makes you pause and ask, “What now?”
For me, the answer wasn’t some big revelation or a dramatic change. It was simpler than that—it was connection. Spending time with other women who get it—who’ve been there or are right in the middle of figuring it out too—reminded me that I’m not alone in this.
That’s what I love about what happens at The Girlfriend Hub. It’s not about reinventing yourself or having all the answers. It’s about showing up, laughing until your sides hurt, sharing stories (and maybe a little wine), and realizing that who you are is enough.
Liz’s story reminds us that it’s okay to feel a little lost. It’s okay to not have all the answers. And it’s okay to lean on others while you figure it out. Because the truth is, none of us have to go through life’s transitions alone.
So, if you’ve been feeling a little like Liz—like you’ve got so much love to give but no clue where to put it—just know there’s a space for you to feel seen, heard, and supported. And maybe, through connection, you’ll start rediscovering you.
